A Blessed Life, R.C.

I consider myself to have a very blessed life. I say this because of the family and local church that I was born into; that is, a Christian family and a church life that was living, caring, shepherding and always supportive. When I was eight years old my father preached the gospel to me, sitting at the dinner table. At that moment I believed into the Lord Jesus and received Him as my Savior. Immediately I had a feeling deep inside of me of joy and peace. Words cannot adequately describe the feeling that I had. I found that calling on the name of the Lord made me very happy. Also that same night I had a strange desire to read the Bible, like never before. I thank the Lord for this experience, however this was just the beginning of a whole new life.

I learned that when I believed into the Lord Jesus, He, as the Spirit, came into my human spirit and regenerated me (2 Corinthians 3:17; 2 Timothy 4:22). However, this is not all, the Lord wants to make His home in our hearts to such an extent that our entire soul is filled with Him and expresses Him (Ephesians 3:17-19). My mind is to know God, my heart is to love God, and my will is to choose God. I learned that this is a process that will take my entire life. As I grew up, my appetite for the Lord and for the Bible grew steadily. However, as most Christians know, the Christian life is not an easy life. I grew up in the local church in Irving, Texas, and this is why I believe I am so blessed. Firstly, the care of the believers in their shepherding and nourishing has preserved me and sustained me to this day. I cannot enumerate all the times I was invited over for dinner or out to eat. Not only so, but many brothers in the local church just took an interest in me and became interested in whatever I was doing, whether playing basketball, football, video games, or school projects. I will never be able to thank them enough.

Beginning in high school I began to read the Bible more frequently, and with the help of books written by Watchman Nee and Witness Lee, I began to understand the meaning of human life and how it relates to me. Just as much as I appreciate all the brothers and sisters in the church in Irving, I began to appreciate Watchman Nee and Witness Lee. The writings of these two servants of the Lord have unveiled the Bible to me like I never thought was possible. Through their writings, they have caused me to experience Christ in my daily living, and have opened my eyes to see the Body of Christ, which includes all genuine believers on earth.
